What has happened to humanity- Living life on autopilot

On a daily basis we are asked how we are doing. Isn’t that the start of most conversations, text messages, zoom meetings or phone calls? Our automatic response is “I am good, how are you? We do not have time to go into details of our anxious thoughts or worries. We do not want to burden others with our problems. And lets be real, does the person asking honestly care, or is it their auto pilot speaking? We do not want to share too much information in fear that someone may have a different belief set where it could possibly turn into a Left-Right, Black-White, I am right , you are wrong situation. Perfect example- The fact that I wrote black-white made me question my thoughts expressed as I debate deleting it because, it could be taken in a variety of ways. My perception is different than yours. That is today's world. What happened to us?

Today’s life is built on top of autopilot software. Our responses are now auto replies chosen by big software companies. AI is growing at an incredible rate with some amazing outcomes. But where is the human in this? Where is the personal touch? We are so connected yet so disconnected. If I wanted to, I could ask Chat GPT to write this article for me but then you wouldn’t be reading something from me, Angiee. Real life thoughts and feelings. My heart and soul, getting to know who I am as a human being. What happened to us?

Day in, day out, we wake up like a rat in a cage. We drink out of our water bottle then run on our exercise wheel. Living to work. We spend more time working on pointless activities all day than we do with our loved ones or our passions. Let me ask you a deep question. Death is on its way to you whether you acknowledge it or not. If tragically you were laying on your deathbed tomorrow, what advice would you give to your younger self?

What if miraculously, you were told that they found a cure for you and you were no longer going to die, would you go back to the same life you're living now? Everything you do is replaceable once you're gone. Nothing can be taken with you. Are you living a meaningful life? The life of your dreams?

Life after covid changed us forever. We are certainly alone together. What happened to us? The sense of disconnection among humans has evolved through various societal, technological, and cultural shifts. This disconnection has manifested  in several ways, including social isolation, lack of empathy, breakdown of community bonds, and reduced face-to-face interactions. Is this the life we want our children to live in? Will we spend our entire lives in our own bubbles closing our minds to other ways of looking at the world? Will we stay in our cage and give our jobs more energy and time than we can give to our own family? And then die?  It is up to us to shift back to the humanity we once had.

First? Get off your damn phones!!! Technology has connected people across the globe, but it has also led to a paradoxical sense of isolation. Social media platforms create superficial connections and people spend more time engaging with screens than with each other! Everything can wait. Spend time with the human being sitting right in-front of you. BE PRESENT!

We have this hashtag that floats around #mentalhealthmatters We hashtag the hell out of that but are we truly practicing it? Is this just us on autopilot? Do we even care about each other anymore? We care more about how the world perceives the false version of us that we put out there. What happened to us?

There is no trust. What does this person want from me? I can’t give too much information, it may be used against me. What if I do or say this and then they do or say that?  It is better to play it safe and isolate myself and who I am.

I'm Done. I am done living in a false reality. I'm Done with small talk and fake conversations about how well you are. The next time I ask how you're doing, tell me how you are truly doing and do the same for someone else. The longer we go on like this, the more we disconnect from each other. We stop relating to one another.  I'm Done living on autopilot. It is time to wake up and create the change we so desperately need for humanity as a whole.

Practice active listening, put yourself in their shoes, Ask open ended questions, Watch body language, Self Reflect, Volunteer and help others, Be patient, and most importantly, be open minded. It is okay to think differently and still be there for eachother.

Life is short. We are here to LIVE , do not do it on autopilot! We are the creators of our reality and I urge you to practice a new way of living. #bringhumanityback
